How super grows
Your employer must pay 12% of your ordinary earnings into super. Contributions are taxed at 15% as they enter the fund, and investment earnings are taxed at up to 15% while you’re working. That’s why we ask for a return after investment tax. Fees come off every year, so a low-fee fund makes a big difference over decades.
2026–27 caps
- Concessional (before-tax) cap: $32,500, including your employer’s SG and salary sacrifice.
- Non-concessional (after-tax) cap: $130,000, or up to $390,000 using the bring-forward rule if your balance is under $1.84 million.
Accessing your super
You can usually access super once you reach your preservation age (60) and retire, or at 65 regardless of work status.
